Forest Preserve Restoration Work in 17th District

This week, the Cook County Forest Preserve started work on two large restoration projects in the 17th District, beginning the process of clearing approximately 390 acres of invasive brush at Spears Woods, Pioneer Woods and Cranberry Slough Nature Preserve. This is a huge undertaking by the Forest Preserve, funded in part by Friends of the Chicago River through a Fish and Wildlife Grant.

This work is being completed within the Forest Preserve’s #1 priority for restoration, as outlined by their Natural and Cultural Resource Management Plan. The work itself will be highly visible from La Grange Ave, Willow Springs Road, 95th Street and 107th Street.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact my District Office at (708) 349-1336.
